Two people were slightly injured when a freight train struck a wood chipper being pulled by a Department of Corrections truck, causing the truck to overturn, witnesses said.
The accident happened on U.S. 41 near County Line Road, not far from Port Manatee. There are no signal crossing lights or crossing arms at this railroad crossing, witnesses said.
The train did not derail and is parked on the tracks a few yards away from the crash scene.
The Manatee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash.
