A question concerning the county's efforts at recycling: Has Hillsborough County stopped doing it?
On Friday, returning from dropping my daughter off at school, I found myself behind a Waste Management truck as it approached my house. Sitting in my vehicle waiting on him to collect the recycling and move on, I watched in amazement as he first picked up our bin of newspapers and dumped it into the back of the garbage truck; then the container with all the aluminum cans were dumped on top of it; and last, the container with all the neatly separated bottles and plastic containers were plopped on top of everything else, which was then mashed into the back of the truck.
Should make re-sorting the materials at the recycling center interesting.
Questions are constantly being asked why the residents of Hillsborough do not recycle more. Why bother when it appears that it all ends up in the same landfill?
