CORAL GABLES Coach Randy Shannon said leading rusher Graig Cooper should play Saturday against Boston College. Cooper injured his knee on Nov. 10 against Virginia and did not play last week as Miami rushed for minus-2 yards against Virginia Tech.
The freshman leads the team with 664 yards on 121 carries with four touchdowns.
"He should be playing without any problems unless something happens [today], he should be playing," Shannon said.
NO COACHING CHANGES: Shannon says he does not expect to shake up his staff when the season is finished.
"No matter who you have as a staff, you have to have the culture and the mentality with what the head coaches want to get done," Shannon said. "It is not bad players who can't produce, it is just players who don't fit my mentality as a head coach."
TOUGH FOR WRIGHT: This could be QB Kyle Wright's last game at UM, and Shannon believes it has been tough for Wright, who has had three different offensive coordinators in as many years.
"He is a guy who has had three different offenses, three different coordinators and three different quarterback coaches," Shannon said. "I get on him hard because I expect a lot out of him, and I told him that, but I really respect him because he took a beating in some games this season, and he keeps coming back and he keeps trying to produce and he keeps trying to work at it.
"It is a shame he hasn't had the chance to have a coordinator or quarterback coach for over a six-month period. You see some things that he really can do, but it is a shame that this has happened to him over this period of time."
