Polk Deputies Investigate Shooting At Food Mart

LAKELAND - Deputies are investigating a fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man on Wednesday night at Sonny's Food Plaza, Polk County Sheriff's Office said.

Roberto Mayorga, of 1043 South Suwanee Ave., was fatally shot in his car, a black 2005 Dodge Stratus.

The shooting occurred shortly before 10 p.m. in the parking lot of the store at 2085 West Highland Street. The plaza is at the corner of Wabash Avenue and West Highland Street.

Investigators said a black male, 25 years old, wearing dark jeans and a red and black jacket was seen running from the parking lot. He is about 5 – 6 to 5-8, about 150 pounds with short hair.
