NEW PORT RICHEY - Children at ABC Academy provided a look at their future selves Tuesday.
Students at the preschool on Sawyer Lane participated in a career day presentation as part of a statewide campaign called "Picture the Future."
Sen. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, joined them for the festivities.
During the presentation, the children dressed as what they want to be when they grow up and created drawings of what they imagine those future careers will be like.
About 15,000 preschoolers across the state were expected to participate in "Picture the Future."
The event was created under the leadership of Children's Campaign, the Early Childhood Association of Florida and Generations United.
The event's goal is to emphasize the need to improve Florida's voluntary prekindergarten program and to make high-quality early learning and teachers with degrees public policy priorities, according to the "Picture the Future" Web site.
The state's voluntary prekindergarten program came about after Florida voters approved a constitutional amendment in 2002 that requires the state to offer free prekindergarten to all interested families whose children are of eligible age.
