Rotary Club Delivering 25 Turkeys

ZEPHYRHILLS - In keeping with a holiday tradition, the Zephyrhills Noon Rotary Club will brighten the holidays of families in need today, making a delivery of 25 turkeys throughout Pasco County.

"The turkey is the star of the Thanksgiving meal," said Marion Szurek, public relations representative of the Zephyrhills Noon Rotary Club. "These turkeys have been donated by our members, and we plan to deliver them after our meeting Wednesday."

The recipients are needy families, primarily based in the Land O' Lakes and Wesley Chapel areas, who have been identified through Pasco County public schools.

After obtaining the list of beneficiaries from the school district, Noon Rotary members purchase the needed turkeys and draw a map of their homes. Then they set out to deliver the turkeys during a one-day period, on the eve of Thanksgiving.

The club started this Thanksgiving tradition three years ago, ensuring that hundreds of families throughout Pasco County have had bountiful holiday feasts.

"As Rotary members, we love to share with people in the community. And this is one of the neatest Rotary projects you can get involved in," said Szurek. "The families are so appreciative."
