CORAL GABLES - CORAL GABLES - Junior S Kenny Phillips only practiced half of the time on Wednesday as he deals with an ankle injury.
Phillips, who is second on the team with 78 tackles and has one interception, injured his right ankle in the first quarter against Virginia Tech, but returned in the game.
Coach Randy Shannon was unsure of Phillips' status for Saturday as the Canes travel to Boston College looking to become bowl eligible.
"That is not very good," said Shannon on Phillips not practicing 100 percent on a Wednesday. "But at least he got some work done. It depends on what he does in the next days…He moved around pretty decent."
Leading rusher Graig Cooper participated in the entire practice according to Shannon, but is still wearing a brace on his right knee.
"He's not hobbled," Shannon said. "He was full-speed, full-go. He'll play."
DE Courtney Harris (undisclosed injury) will not play and S JoJo Nicolas (undisclosed) might not play.
SHANNON DOES UP-DOWNS: After practice, Shannon did up-downs for 100 yards as senior DT Teraz McCray walked next to him and the team watched from the sideline. Shannon is notorious for making people do up-downs, in which a person runs to each 5-yard line marker and lays flat on their stomach, then pushes themselves back up.
