SPRING HILL - The Rat Pack went into a feeding frenzy against Pastabilities, capturing the HCRD 'B' Division title in the process, at Veterans Memorial Park, 26-15.
Rat Pack (10-2) quarterback Mario Policastri went 7-for-11 passing with four touchdown passes and two point-after conversions and one interception. Policastri's favorite target on the night was Keenan Calzadilla.
Calzadilla was also active on defense, putting pressure on Pastabilities' quarterback, John Sitar, and getting to him for a sack.
Sitar finished 7-of-19 throwing the ball with an interception himself. Teammate Matt Booker was a menace the second half on defense, getting three sacks and keeping Pastabilities in the game.
"I don't know what happened," explained Sitar afterward. "We came out ready for this game. A couple of plays just put us back. We were 1-1 on the season head-to-head. This was the tie-breaker."
Sitar added, "We tried to put the pressure on, but the pressure ended up sealing the game, almost, for us. A couple of dropped balls. We let them grab one in the end zone. Stupid stuff like that is going to cost you games.
"We had an overall great year," he added. "We finished 9-1, came into the playoffs, shut out the semifinal team, 35-0. We came into this game ready to play and I don't know what happened."
"Our first year we went all the way and won the 'C' Division," shared Rat Pack captain Rich Flammia. "This is our second year. We went all the way and won the 'B' Division."
"We have more speed than anybody," chimed teammate Mike Galizia Sr. "We just use our speed. We have a good quarterback that can scramble."
Flammia added, "We play mostly man-to-man all year. Zone every once in a while. Lock down defense and our offense jelled at the end. We're putting the 'A' division on notice. The Rat Pack is coming."
