Rapper 50 Cent said Kayne West is making the right decision by returning to the stage after his mother's sudden death.
"That's really an unfortunate situation and I hope he can work his way through it," 50 Cent said. "It's good to see him actually touring: You can work your way back into a comfortable space where you can deal with those situations."
West's 58-year-old mother and manager, Donda West, died Nov. 10 after she stopped breathing at her home. She died at home after recently undergoing plastic surgery. A cause of death has yet to be determined.
The rapper had a particularly close relationship with his mother, and dedicated a song to her on his second album; earlier this week, he broke down in tears as he attempted to sing "Hey Mama" at a concert in Europe.
50 Cent said his friend and G-Unit artist Lloyd Banks dealt with a similar situation when his father died while Banks was on tour. 50 thought Banks should put his focus on work so he wouldn't be paralyzed by grief.
"I was telling him, 'You need to go back and do what you need to do,' and he thought maybe I was a little insensitive," 50 Cent said. "But I can definitely understand how that's a huge loss, and how that would be, and then Kanye's relationship with his mom had a lot more depth to it than a lot of people's. He was real close to his mom."
Quaid's Newborn Twins Overmedicated
The newborn twins of actor Dennis Quaid were among three patients accidentally given 1,000 times the common dosage of a blood thinner, but hospital officials said Tuesday that none of the overdose victims had suffered any ill effects.
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center declined to identify the patients, but a representative for the actor said that they included the two-week-old children of Quaid and wife Kimberly, Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace.
The hospital declined to release the patients' conditions Wednesday, citing privacy laws.
Baio, Fiancee Welcome Baby Girl

The reality show star and his fiancee, Renee Sloan, welcomed a baby girl into their lives on Nov. 2, according to Life & Style.
Reportedly, the girl, whose name has yet to be released, arrived five weeks early and weighed 5 lbs., 10 oz. at birth. She joins her big sister, Kayln, Sloan's 18-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
Garth Eliminated From 'Dancing'
She may have been the most popular girl at West Beverly Hills High School, but Jennie Garth couldn't muster enough votes to reach the final of "Dancing with the Stars."
Garth, who played Kelly Taylor on "Beverly Hills, 90210" from 1990 to 2000, was eliminated from the show Tuesday. A breakthrough performance the night before, which earned her and professional partner Derek Hough their first perfect judges score of 30, wasn't enough.
Dancing in next week's final will be two-time Indy 500 champion Helio Castroneves, Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown and singer Marie Osmond.
