Pedestrian Hit, Killed By Truck

ST. PETERSBURG - A pedestrian was hit by a truck and killed while walking across 34th Street North on Wednesday night.

The black female, identified by police as "Stewart, was crossing against the light, according to police reports. She was hit by 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup which was southbound on 34th Street with a green light.

The pickup driver was Edward C. Redington, 56, of St. Petersburg. After the accident, Stewart came to rest on the southwest corner of Fifth Avenue North and 34th Street. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Redington was not hurt.
