CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Candace Parker scored a season-high 29 points to lead top-ranked Tennessee to a 67-49 win against No. 16 West Virginia on Wednesday night.
Alexis Hornbuckle added 12 points and Nicky Anosike had 10 for Tennessee (4-0), which beat its third ranked opponent in six days, including No. 21 Texas on Sunday and No. 10 Oklahoma last Thursday.
Olayina Sanni scored 16 points for West Virginia (3-1) before fouling out with 6:27 remaining.
The Mountaineers had averaged 83 points in their first three games but were held to their lowest output of the season and couldn't figure out how to handle Tennessee's taller frontcourt.
MICHIGAN STATE 67, N. ILLINOIS 40: Allyssa DeHaan scored 17 points to lead No. 19 Michigan State past Northern Illinois in the opening game of the Caribbean Challenge. Kalisha Keane added 15 points and Alisa Wulff 11 for the Spartans.
AUBURN 71, OAKLAND 63: DeWanna Bonner had 22 points and 12 rebounds and Whitney Boddie added 19 points and 10 rebounds to help No. 24 Auburn rally against Oakland University.
FOWLES DUNKS: Sylvia Fowles of LSU became the fifth player to dunk in a NCAA woman's basketball game and sixth-ranked LSU defeated Louisiana-Lafayette 72-37.
Fowles, a 6-6 senior, made a steal in the backcourt and then drove the lane and dunked with 9:29 remaining in the first half.
The other women to dunk in a college game are Georganne Wells of West Virginia, Charlotte Smith of North Carolina, and Michelle Snow and Candace Parker, both of Tennessee.
Kansas Overwhelms Northern Arizona
LAWRENCE, Kansas - Darrell Arthur had 17 points and fourth-ranked Kansas overwhelmed Northern Arizona in the first half in the Jayhawks' 600th win in the 52-year history of Allen Fieldhouse.
Kansas poured it on from the start, scoring the first 12 points and building it to a 29-4 lead.
GEORGETOWN 57, BALL STATE 48: Roy Hibbert scored 16 points and had seven rebounds, and No. 5 Georgetown made seven 3-pointers in a win against outmanned Ball State.
TEXAS A&M 77, WASHINGTON 63: Donald Sloan scored 18 points and No. 16 Texas A&M held Washington without a field goal for a key five-minute stretch in the second half to beat the Huskies in the NIT Season Tip-Off semifinals. Joseph Jones added 17 points for the Aggies (5-0).
CLEMSON 74, PRESBYTERIAN 57: K.C. Rivers had 11 of his 18 points in the second half as No. 24 Clemson held off Presbyterian.
