LAND O' LAKES - Two inmates at the Land O' Lakes jail were flown to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa tonight after a fight involving several people.
The fight started shortly after 6 p.m., the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.
''At this point, we're trying to find out what the fight was about,'' sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll said. ''It looks like there were more than two inmates involved.''
He said no detention deputies were hurt in the melee. The extent of the inmates' injuries was unclear and their names were unavailable.
On Wednesday morning, detention Deputy Raymond Williamson suffered a dislocated shoulder and other injuries after trying to break up a fight between two cellmates, one of whom was being transferred to a new cell.
The sheriff's office said Rogelio Perez, arrested in May and charged with attempted murder, tried to stab cellmate Phillup Alan Partin, an accused killer, with a writing pen around 2:45 a.m. That brawl erupted in the jail's maximum-security wing.
It wasn't immediately clear which part of the jail was affected by today's fight.
