TAMPA - A 78-year-old man and 69-year-old woman had minor injuries after a Tampa police cruiser ran into their car Sunday afternoon when the officer was chasing a stolen car, according to police records.
Officer Jason Landrem's cruiser was exiting Interstate 4 about 3 p.m. at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard while chasing a stolen Toyota Camry when it struck the vehicle in which Fidel Rojas-Carmenate and Julia LaBoris, both of Tampa, were riding.
Rojas-Carmenate and LaBoris were treated at Tampa General Hospital.
Two other people in the car were not hurt, police said
The other officer in Landrem's car, J. Byrne, was treated for lower back pain at Memorial Hospital of Tampa.
The stolen car fled the scene. The silver Camry's license plate number is UT99TZ.
