FORT LAUDERDALE - A Broward Sheriff's Office sergeant was stabbed in the stomach on Sunday, and authorities were searching for the suspect.

Sgt. Lisa Disavino, 29, was released from a hospital Sunday, hours after she was attacked while checking out a suspicious man standing near a bus stop in the Broward County suburb of Tamarac, sheriff's spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said.

Sheriff's office dispatchers received a call at 2:12 a.m. Sunday from Disavino, who said she had been stabbed in the stomach, Concepcion said.

Law enforcement officers were searching for a suspect said to be wearing a green Miami Dolphins jersey with the number 99.

The man likely ran and is considered dangerous, Concepcion said.

Disavino, a seven-year veteran of the force, is the fifth South Florida law enforcement officer and the fourth in Broward to be injured or killed in the line of duty since August.

Broward Deputy Paul Rein, 76, was killed Nov. 7 while taking an inmate to court. Michael Mazza, 40, was charged in the slaying.

Broward Deputy Maury Hernandez was shot in the head Aug. 6 during a traffic stop. He was released from the hospital Oct. 25, but suffered major injuries. A suspect was arrested.

Broward Sgt. Chris Reyka, 51, was fatally shot as he was looking for stolen vehicles behind a drug store Aug. 10. His killer is still being sought.

In September, a Miami-Dade County police officer, Jose Somohano, was fatally shot by a suspect who ambushed him and three other officers with an assault weapon. The suspect was killed by officers hours later in Broward.
