CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands - Tina Charles had 13 points and eight rebounds Sunday night to lead second-ranked Connecticut past No. 9 Duke, 74-48, for the Paradise Jam championship.
Maya Moore added 12 points, and Renee Montgomery and Kalana Greene each had 10 for the Huskies, who shot 53 percent from the floor while holding Duke to 36 percent.
Connecticut (5-0) took control in the opening minutes, led 40-24 at halftime and put the Blue Devils away in the second half with 11-for-22 shooting.
Chante Black led Duke (5-1) with 16 points and three rebounds.
Both teams ran the floor aggressively, but Connecticut made the Blue Devils pay for their miscues in the first half by scoring 16 points off 11 Duke turnovers.
The Huskies jumped out to a 13-4 lead by scoring 13 unanswered points, including two long 3-pointers from the same spot by Montgomery. A layup by Charde Houston on an alley-oop from Moore put Connecticut ahead 28-12 with eight minutes to play in the first half.
MARYLAND 79, UCLA 75: Kristi Toliver scored 22 points, including six 3-pointers, and No. 3 Maryland overcame a 16-point second-half deficit to beat UCLA.
Marissa Coleman had 20 points, 10 rebounds and four assists to lead Maryland (8-0), which needed a 14-0 run to retake a lead it held the entire first half. Maryland held UCLA to just four points during the final 5:47 of the game.
STANFORD 63, TEMPLE 54: Candice Wiggins scored 22 points and No. 4 Stanford rallied from a 19-point deficit to beat Temple at the Paradise Jam.
NORTH CAROLINA 77, FURMAN 36: Freshman Cetera DeGraffenreid scored 16 points to lead No. 5 North Carolina to a rout of Furman. Freshman Rebecca Gray added 14 points for the unbeaten Tar Heels.
RUTGERS 45, LSU 43: Kia Vaughn scored 13 points to help No. 7 Rutgers hold off No. 6 LSU in a rematch of last season's Final Four.
Quianna Chaney, who finished with 16 points, missed a 3-pointer with less than a second left for LSU (4-2).
BAYLOR 69, CALIFORNIA 56: Jessica Morrow scored 18 points and Angela Tisdale added 16 to lift No. 13 Baylor past No. 12 California.
AUBURN 67, OHIO STATE 58: Sherell Hobbs scored 21 points, Whitney Boddie had 20 and DeWanna Bonner added 16 to lead No. 24 Auburn past No. 15 Ohio State for the Buckeye Classic title.
DEPAUL 80, ILLINOIS STATE 75: Allie Quigley scored 22 points and Natasha Williams added 18 to lead No. 18 DePaul past Illinois State.
TEXAS 59, UAB 49: Brittainey Raven scored 21 points to help No. 21 Texas beat UAB in the fifth-place game of the Rainbow Wahine.
OLD DOMINION 66, PURDUE 53: T.J. Jordan scored 17 points to lead Old Dominion to victory against No. 22 Purdue in the Paradise Jam.
VANDERBILT 62, IOWA STATE 53: Lauren Lueders scored a career-high 14 points to help No. 25 Vanderbilt beat Iowa State in the championship game of the Vanderbilt Thanksgiving Tournament.
