Pinellas Deputy Gives Details Of 'Bachelor' Stars' Fight

SEMINOLE - Mary Delgado and Byron Velvick returned to the limelight last week.

The initial public exposure came three years ago when Velvick proposed to Delgado during an episode of the television show "The Bachelor."
Domestic fisticuffs, authorities said, put them back on the public's radar Friday.
Delgado punched Velvick on Tuesday night after the two, still a bachelor and bachelorette, disagreed over whether they should leave a condominium where they were visiting friends, said Pinellas County sheriff's Sgt. Jim Bordner.
Velvick wanted to leave because the couple they were visiting began arguing, but Delgado wanted to stay, Bordner said. After the pair got into Velvick's truck, they "became involved in an argument which turned physical," Bordner said.
Velvick "told deputies she started striking him in the chest while he pushed her to her side of the truck," Bordner said.
She eventually struck him on the mouth, splitting his upper lip on the left side, Bordner said. He returned to the condominium to clean himself up and, while she waited in the truck, he called authorities, Bordner said. Velvick did not want to press charges, Bordner said, nor did he want his injuries photographed.
Deputies determined that a crime had occurred and arrested Delgado on a charge of battery.
Delgado was released the next day on her own recognizance.

I can see reporting on this when it first happened, but why keep publishing the same story day after day?

What a waste of time and energy on both parts! Why are they staying in a condo with someone else? Get your own condo for the love of God.....and why not just duke it out on the street instead of in the car? If you want to fight, fight like everyone else. And girlfriend, if, in fact, you really are 41, you might want to realize that the older you get the harder it is to recover from all of the pushing and shoving......and in it messes up your hair and nails.....

Roberto was on the right track, but failed to take into account the cheerleaders getting in on the tackle, to whit: Mary may have tried to intervene in the other couple's dispute, and then Byron would've been on the hook to protect her, and then it would've been a free-for-all; referees, cheerleaders, mascot, band, and all.
The right call: punt and get off the field, which is what Byron was trying to do, while QB Delgado wanted to go for it on 4th with a Hail Mary. If she had stayed on the field, she might've lost a chunk of her tongue instead of the poor sap in the other domestic dispute story.

Eek! I just saw the picture of the two of them together on the show from a few years back. What happened!?
