5 Questions With Chelsea Klotz

Chelsea Klotz scored two goals in Tampa Prep's 5-0 win against Cambridge on Tuesday to bring her total to 24 for the season. The 17-year-old senior striker is in her first season with Tampa Prep (7-0) after moving from Lake Brantley.

Was it difficult to transfer between your junior and senior years of high school?

It was best for the family, because I play club soccer here and it was hard to drive back and forth from Orlando to Tampa three times a week. I didn't want to do it at first, but Tampa Prep has been so easy to get adjusted to. Everybody has been so nice here.

Your exposure has paid off with a scholarship offer you've accepted to the University of South Florida. What made you choose USF?

I was originally looking at schools in North Carolina, but there my parents wouldn't get to see me as much. There I'm 30 minutes from home. My parents are my biggest supporters, and I definitely want them to be close and get to see as many of my games as they can.

So with Tuesday at Cambridge being the team's second away game of the season, what are bus trips like?

We are always jamming to music. We usually have food and stuff like that, but it's just a big bonding experience. We are all goofy on there and then come out on the field and it's business."

What music are you listening to?

I'm a big Celine Dion fan. Last January I went and saw her show in Las Vegas and I cried the whole time. It was amazing, the best time of my life.

What is one thing you've never done that you would like to try?

I don't know if I'd ever do this, but I love airplanes and I would love to try flying airplanes. I fly all the time for soccer tournaments. In July, I was on a plane like five different times.
