Another Year,

Same Old Question

Why do the Hernando County Commissioners make more money doing a part-time job, than Hernando County deputies do when they put their lives on the line for everyone?

I just don't get it.

To Attack Iran

Not just a few Democrats find comfort in the proposition that Bush "lacks the authority" to attack Iran.

He needs authority? The attack can in fact be made tonight by Bush lifting the red phone by his bedside and simply saying "GO!" And it's done.

Then tomorrow morning there will be an announcement that our President took the bold action necessary to defend the American people and that once more freedom is on the march.

The media will rally to the cause. And drowning out the complaints of some few congenitally sour liberals, the Democrat-majority House and Senate will speak with one voice that we must all rally to support our troops. And we will.

And that is how it can and quite possibly will happen under a treacherous administration, enabled by a witless and cowardly Democrat congressional opposition, and supported by slavish media, and variously ignored or cheered on by an electorate more focused upon shopping.

Realizing this, what are concerned and decent citizens to do? Firstly, recognize and condemn partisan propaganda when it's dumped on us by a treacherous government and by the cowardly politicos of the so-called opposition.

Raise hell about the supposed loyal opposition party in Florida headed by a chair that takes side-money from a Republican lobbyist, and Florida Senator Nelson who voted for the Bush war powers, and who voted for the Military Commissions Act that raped our Constitution.

Insist that the state party offices be ethically scoured. And tell our Democrat-majority Congress to stop, to simply say "No" to every single Bush request for war funding, not one dime of which they have ever denied him.

We need to stop fooling each other and ourselves. We need to stand and demand of Democrats that it is not sufficient to win elections over Republicans, but that we require them to do the right thing.

What we do not need is to kowtow to the Florida Democrat Chair Thurman's proposition that the major issue is partisan "unity." We need to let the political apparatchniks and party hacks know that we will tolerate nothing different or less than political courage, intelligence, goodwill and integrity.

Seven years of treachery combined with cowardly political opposition is enough. It is time for patriotic citizens to rise above their habitual partisan persuasions and to take back America from the politicians who promoted or enabled the Iraq disgrace and now threaten us with an attack on Iran.
