Exposure Charges Dismissed

NEW PORT RICHEY - Prosecutors have dropped child sex charges against a former Florida Highway Patrol trooper, Danny Christopher Bowers.
Bowers, 41, of Port Richey, was facing two counts of lewd and lascivious exhibition.
He was accused of exposing himself to a 13-year-old girl as a 12-year-old watched and then entering the bedroom of a 14-year-old and exposing himself to her.
The alleged incident happened in May. Bowers was arrested in July.
Bowers denied the allegations, telling investigators he was showing the girls a turkey baster.
Bowers' attorney, Bob Attridge, said Wednesday the state dismissed charges because the girls recanted their stories during their depositions.
Bowers was fired from the Florida Highway Patrol in December 2000 after admitting to having an affair with a woman he was investigating in a September 1998 fatal crash.
