Published: November 29, 2007

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Brandon Rush scored 17 points and No. 4 Kansas routed Florida Atlantic 87-49 Wednesday night, a rude welcome back to Allen Fieldhouse for Rex Walters.

One of the more popular players of the Roy Williams era at Kansas, Walters is in his second season as head coach at Florida Atlantic. The Owls (1-6) were without their leading scorer but probably had no chance of winning anyway on the court where their coach once starred.
Mario Chalmers hit two 3-pointers in a 12-0 run that put Kansas firmly in control at 32-13 and it was never any closer.

GEORGETOWN 66, OLD DOMINION 48: Roy Hibbert and No. 5 Georgetown got all they could handle from Old Dominion and a jazzed up Gerald Lee before pulling away.

The Hoyas (4-0) got four points each from Jonathan Wallace and Patrick Ewing Jr. and three from Hibbert in an 11-1 run to start the second half, opening a 41-24 lead with 16 minutes to play..

Lee, a 6-foot-9 sophomore, was the major reason for it, outplaying the 7-2 Hibbert for the first 20 minutes. He had 16 points and eight rebounds, seven offensive, by halftime and three times he scored on putbacks to keep the game close.

TEXAS 98, TEXAS SOUTHERN 61: Damion James had 19 points and 10 rebounds and No. 8 Texas ran its record to 6-0 for only the second time in Coach Rick Barnes' 10 seasons.

Texas started the 2005-06 season 8-0. D.J. Augustin added 20 points for the Longhorns, who turned 24 turnovers by Texas Southern (1-5) into 34 points.

MICHIGAN ST. 81, N.C. ST. 58: Goran Suton had 16 points and 12 rebounds and No. 10 Michigan State (5-1) cruised past No. 24 North Carolina State (4-2), extending what was the nation's sixth-longest active streak entering the game that was part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

XAVIER 93, OAKLAND 68: Stanley Burrell scored 15 points in a tone-setting first half, and No. 23 Xavier (5-1), playing as a ranked team for the first time in 11 months, used one crushing run after another to beat Oakland for its fourth straight win.

Women's Top 25

RUTGERS 56, SAINT JOSEPH'S 50: Kia Vaughn had 12 points and 11 rebounds and No. 5 Rutgers (4-1) survived a scare from feisty Saint Joseph's (3-2).

CALIFORNIA 75, LOYOLA MARYMOUNT 54: Ashley Walker had 25 points and 10 rebounds, leading No. 12 California (5-1) over Loyola Marymount (4-3).
