You might save some cash during your holiday shopping if you're headed to Ybor City.
Mayor Pam Iorio announced today that the city of Tampa will suspend daytime parking meter fees during December, spokeswoman Liana Lopez said.
The street meters will be free between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the historic district from December 1 to December 31.
The rates of the Fernando Noriega/Palm Avenue Parking Garage and the Centro Ybor Garage on Fifth Avenue will not be affected.
The city anticipates losing about $21,000 in revenue from the on-street meters and metered parking lots combined.
The initiative is designed to boost holiday business in the district, Lopez said.
