1 Dies In Lakeland Shootings

LAKELAND - Police are investigating a pair of shootings, one fatal and one not, that occurred overnight.
Just after midnight, Cody Wayne Brackin, 20, was found shot in the chest at 1912 Kimble Court. He died at the scene. Lakeland police are interviewing possible witnesses, police spokesman Jack Gillen said.
No further information was released.
About an hour later, at 2:07 a.m. today, police responded to Lakeland Regional Medical Center, where Michael Hector, 20, had come to seek treatment for a gunshot wound, Gillen said. His injuries are not life-threatening.
Hector reported being shot by an unknown man in front of a home at 634 W. Thomas St. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Russell Hurley at (863) 834-8967.
