HEAD COACH JON GRUDEN
(On Jeff Garcia)
"I don't know. He did some things today, which is very encouraging. He's getting better. I don't really know but I'm very optimistic after today."
(On if it's a matter of Garcia coming to him and saying he's ready to play)
"Yeah, the trainers and him. They spend a lot of time together, and it's just a matter of when he's able to go out and go, and today was a real good step in that direction."
(On who will start if Garcia can't play)
"I don't really want to announce that, no disrespect to anybody. We have prepared two young guys to play. I just don't want to say anything until I know Jeff's official status. We'll go from there."
( On the status of Michael Pittman and Greg Spires)
"They're questionable. Pittman practiced yesterday and felt pretty good today. I can only speculate. They'll be game-day decisions."
(On if the Saints have changed a lot since the Bucs faced them in Week Two)
"Well, they throw the ball every play. They're going to throw it 55 or 60 times a game, and that's their style offensively. [Deuce] McAllister's no longer there, and they're going to throw it anyhow but they're really committed to passing the football now. Not to say they won't run it. Defensively, the structure, the scheme has changed a little bit. They're getting [Brian] Young back. I think [Charles] Grant is healthy again, and that's a good thing for Saints fans. They're pretty darn good."
(On if the team will lean more on Earnest Graham with the QB situation)
"We've been leaning on Earnest anyhow. He's about the only halfback we've had. Just to make sure we're clear on that. Yeah, we're going to lean on Earnest and hopefully Mike Bennett and Pittman are able to pick up the slack if needed."
(On the noise in the Superdome)
"It's a problem. We have a noise machine here and we simulate crowd noise. It's hard to simulate the real deal because you can hear the names they're calling you. But we do try to make it hard on our offense to communicate, where we have to function with signals. Tight ends usually don't see the ball snapped, they're usually the last guy off, so they need work on that."
