PLANT CITY – A "for rent" sign went up recently in front of the Woman's Club of Plant City, 1110 N. Wheeler St.
The sign was posted just months after a neighbor, the Plant City Garden Club, sold its longtime clubhouse to a dance studio.
But the Woman's Club isn't going anywhere.
The club just wanted it to be known that the building south of Interstate 4 is available for lease for events such as birthday parties, showers, rehearsal dinners and business meetings, President Alise Sollenberger said.
A church leases the building for Sunday services.
Meanwhile, the Woman's Club and related organizations continue to get plenty of use from the building, which the club has owned for nearly 50 years. The clubhouse is used for meetings by the Woman's Club, Junior Woman's Club, and a new group for girls 13-18, she said. The club also uses it for activities such as Sew Much Comfort, a national project to provide customized clothing to wounded military personnel.
The cost of leasing the building depends on the day of the week and the length and type of event.
Anyone interested in renting the building can call the clubhouse, (813) 752-4871, and leave a message or call property manager Irmgard Tannery, (813) 754-8031, or Sollenberger, (813) 659-3397.
