TAMPA - University of South Florida senior CB Mike Jenkins and sophomore DE George Selvie were named to the 2007 American Football Coaches Association All-America Team on Thursday.

USF is one of only three schools to place two players on the 25-player team. Virginia Tech and Ohio State each had two All-Americans. No other state schools were represented.

Selvie, who has already been named an All-American by the Football Writers Association of America, and Jenkins are the first Division I-A first-team All-Americans in school history.

Jenkins is rated as the top senior NFL prospect at cornerback by ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. He leads the Big East with 12 pass breakups and has three interceptions.

"That is a humbling," Jenkins said. "So many things have happened here at USF this season that have never happened before. What an honor to join George as the first All-Americans at this level for USF and to be the representatives for the Big East. It is really beyond words what this means to me and what I know it means to George."

Selvie needs one tackle for loss in the Sun Bowl to break the NCAA record. He's second nationally with 14 1/2 sacks.

"What a blessing," Selvie said. "I didn't see this stuff coming, I was just focused on football and school. I never set out to be named an All-American, I just wanted to win games and contribute to the team. It's a tremendous honor and one I will try my very best to live up to every time I step on the field."
