TAMPA - Police are investigating a fatal shooting on East Caracas Street that occurred about 8:30 p.m. tonight.
Tampa police officers responded to a call of several shots fired in the vicinity south of East Hillsborough Avenue. When officers arrived on the scene at 3220 E. Caracas St., they found a male victim dead of an apparent gunshot wound to the head, said Tampa Police Lt. Craig Sawicki.
Police are searching for three men in connection with the fatal shooting, Sawicki said. The suspects were last seen in an older model Ford F-150 pickup truck with tinted windows, a flair front end, silver bottom and stock rims, Sawicki said. The truck may have been a model from the 1990's, Sawicki said.
Two of the suspects, armed with handguns, rode in the bed of the truck and are suspected of firing several rounds at the victim, Sawicki said.
The victim's name was not released by police because relatives were not yet notified of his death, Sawicki said.
