HOMOSASSA – A dive instructor died while taking two men caving off Homosassa.
A Coast Guard dive team found the body of James Cummins, 40, about 9:30 a.m. today in the Gulf of Mexico near the mouth of the Homosassa River.
He had taken two students on a dive Sunday afternoon. The students resurfaced, but Cummins did not, Coast Guard spokeswoman Tasha Tully said. The Coast Guard then launched a search using boats and a helicopter.
Cummins was from Inverness. Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
