TAMPA - A Polk County reserve deputy faces losing his job after being arrested on Monday for driving under the influence, officials say.
A Hillsborough County deputy responded to a traffic crash early Monday at State Road 60 and Mulrennan Road in Valrico. Motorist Bryan D. Price, 27, was arrested after deputies smelled alcohol on his breath and saw that his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, according to an arrest report.
He was charged with driving under the influence with property damage and driving under the influence-refusing to submit to an alcohol breath test. He posted $1,000 bail and was released from Orient Road Jail, records show.
Price was sworn in as a patrol deputy in Polk County in January 2006 and was transferred to reserve status in December, sheriff's spokeswoman Carrie Rodgers said.
Termination proceedings have begun, she said.
