TAMPA - Federal prosecutors have dismissed charges against another Serbian immigrant who was set to go on trial on charges he hid his involvement in the Serbian army when he filled out immigration paperwork.
Ostoja Saric is the fourth Serbian to walk away from similar criminal charges filed in Tampa. Two others were acquitted after trials, and a third saw charges against him dismissed after two trials ended in hung juries.
Two other Serbians are scheduled to go on trial in November.
According to testimony during one of the trials, the names of more than 100 U.S. residents were found on documents obtained by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.
The names of six St. Petersburg-area immigrants being prosecuted here were among them.
