TAMPA University of South Florida senior C Nick Capogna, who was limited to only four plays against West Virginia last week, said he's "ready to go" for Saturday's game against Florida Atlantic.
Capogna suffered a sprained knee in the season opener against Elon and missed the next two games before playing sparingly against West Virginia. He said he's near 100 percent.
Jake Griffin, of Armwood, has started the past three games at center, but can move back to guard, where he started the season opener, when Capogna returns.
LOADED BACKFIELD: USF coach Jim Leavitt said it appears the Bulls will continue to operate with a running back by committee approach.
"I don't see anyone being that much better than anyone else," Leavitt said. "They're all working hard. Unless somebody really shows they're the guy, I'm sure [running backs coach] Carl [Franks] will start who he thinks has the best week of practice."
Freshman Mike Ford, who made his first start last week, has led the Bulls in rushing in two games, junior Ben Williams once and freshman Jamar Taylor once.
Ford leads USF with 212 yards, while Williams has 124 and Taylor 91, 58 coming against West Virginia.
ODDS AND ENDS: LB Ben Moffitt was named the Bronko Nagurski Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday a day after earning Big East Defensive Player of the Week honors. … OL Matt Huners returned to practice Monday, but will not play Saturday. Leavitt said he didn't have a timetable when Huners, who tore his ACL in the spring game, could play.
