BRADENTON - The area around the Rye Bridge at Upper Manatee River Road has been shutdown until further notice by the Manatee public works department due to flooding from heavy rain today.
The area around the bridge is under water after a release of high water from the dam, officials said.
It is possible that some of the area around the bridge has washed out and will be checked first thing Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service has also extended a River Flood Warning for the Manatee River near Myakka Head until Thursday afternoon.
The flood stage for the Manatee River is 11 feet. On Wednesday afternoon, the stage was at just over 15 feet.
