Actress Jane Seymour's Mother Dies At Age 92

Actress Jane Seymour's 92-year-old mother, Mieke Frankenberg, died in England on Monday because of complications from a stroke she suffered this year, Seymour's publicist told People magazine.

Seymour, who has made a splash on this season's 'Dancing With the Stars,' missed Tuesday's live results show because she was on her way to England to be with her family and attend funeral services.

'My mother survived incredible challenges ... her health issues that she never complained about .... three and half years in a Japanese concentration camp in World War II and the loss of her husband John who was the love of her life,' Seymour said in a statement Tuesday.

The 56-year-old actress told People in August that a big reason she decided to take the 'Dancing With the Stars' challenge was because it was her mother's favorite show.

Spears Lost Children Because She Skipped Drug Test

Britney Spears lost custody of her children because she failed to produce a California driver's license and allegedly missed a drug and alcohol test, her attorney said in a published report.

'We weren't able to prove compliance with what the judge ordered,' attorney Sorrell Trope told People magazine.

'Specifically,' he said, 'the judge ordered that by 10 a.m. Monday morning, both parties show valid California driving licenses. I've been unable to produce evidence of that.'

Trope said another factor was a claim by ex-husband Kevin Federline's attorney that Spears had skipped a test. 'There's no evidence that she actually failed,' the lawyer said.

On Monday, Superior Court Commissioner Scott M. Gordon ordered Spears to relinquish custody of her sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, to Federline 'until further order of the court.'

Paltrow To Go On Culinary Journey

Gwyneth Paltrow, acclaimed chef Mario Batali and New York Times food columnist Mark Bittman are embarking on a road trip that boasts slick cars, hearty food and a candid camera monitoring the flashy travelers.

Paltrow, the duo of American food gurus and Spanish actress Claudia Bassols announced their journey, which will be captured in a 13-part TV series, 'Spain ... On the Road Again.'

The series, which is designed to give viewers a closer look at Spain's cuisine, wine, culture and nightlife, will air on PBS next fall. Organizers are negotiating with broadcasters in Spain and Latin America.

'The Bachelor' Firestone Is Engaged

Andrew Firestone's proposal to Jen Schefft on ABC's dating show 'The Bachelor' in 2003 was watched by millions and led to months of tabloid chatter afterward - until the couple broke up later that year.

Now Firestone is engaged again, his father and Santa Barbara County Supervisor Brooks Firestone, said Monday.

His son is engaged to model-actress Ivana Bozilovic, and they plan to marry in the spring, Firestone said.

'We love her,' he said. 'She makes Andrew behave.'
