Search A Database Of Sexual Assaults In Tampa
TAMPA - Police charged a man early this morning with five counts of felony sexual battery, saying he repeatedly raped a woman at knifepoint for about two hours.
Gary Lewis Grider, 40, of 3902 N. Suwanee Ave., also is charged with felony armed kidnapping. He is being held without bail at Orient Road Jail.
Tampa police say Grider encountered the woman, whom he knew, at Robles Park and invited her to an address in the 3500 block of North Avon Avenue about midnight.
Once there, he forced the woman upstairs by placing a knife to her neck, bound her wrists with a belt and threatened to kill her, an arrest affidavit states. He then stripped her and raped her repeatedly, the affidavit states.
Grider eventually placed the knife on a shelf and released the woman, who fled and called police, the affidavit states. Police arrested him at the Avon Avenue address at 2:31 a.m., the affidavit states.
