GAINESVILLE Sophomore CB Markihe Anderson likely won't be back to the field until after the Gators' bye week Oct. 13, Florida coach Urban Meyer said.
Anderson sprained his PCL against Tennessee and has been wearing a knee brace ever since.
"He's trying as hard as he can," Meyer said. "Really, really tough kid."
Meanwhile, DT John Brown hasn't seem to have caught a break since he's been at Florida.
After the freshman waited nearly a month at the start of the season to be deemed academically eligble by the NCAA Clearinghouse, he now has a sprained left ankle. Brown struggled as he left practice on crutches wearing a boot.
OL Maurice Hurt is still hurting from a neck stinger and hasn't practiced for the past two days.
"We're going to take him and hope we get him ready for Saturday," Meyer said. "We need to have some depth there."
SPECIAL TEAMS: With the circus surrounding the aftermath of Tony Joiner's arrest, it's easy to forget that the Gators actually have a game to prepare for Saturday.
If Florida plans to win against Louisiana State, Meyer knows the special teams are going to have to do a better job than they did against Auburn.
Freshman punter Chas Henry failed to line up on the line of scrimmage on the fake punt and redshirt freshman Jamar Hornsby ran into the punter, both resulting in costly penalties for the Gators.
"It's going to be a great day in Urban Meyer's life when I don't have to say 'freshmen.' I don't like freshmen," Meyer said with a smile.
