Beckham Back With Galaxy
CARSON, Calif. - David Beckham, sidelined since injuring his knee Aug. 29, returned to practice Wednesday with the Los Angeles Galaxy.
When Beckham went out with a sprained knee ligament, it was estimated he would miss at least six weeks, and possibly would not play for the MLS team again this season. The English midfielder, 32, kicked the ball around and went through a few drills with his teammates.
He isn't expected to travel with the team for Sunday's game in Houston.

Lakers' Brown Arrested
VALDOSTA, Ga. - Los Angeles Lakers center Kwame Brown was charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with a police officer after his cousin was charged with drunken driving. Brown faces misdemeanor charges after Valdosta police pulled over Charles Warren Jr. early Saturday for driving the wrong way on a one-way street, Lt. Bobbi McGraw said. Brown called it a misunderstanding.

Cavaliers guard Shannon Brown said he was involved in an altercation with a security guard at a downtown nightclub that started after he was escorted from the bar for wearing a hat. 'I was involved in a situation a couple of days ago where I felt like I was assaulted,' Brown said. No charges had been filed. ... Nuggets star Allen Iverson has been sued for $44,000 for not showing up - to speak to his fans. The suit says Iverson didn't come to a weekend of booked appearances in Omaha, Neb., in August.
Grad Rates Up For Men
INDIANAPOLIS - Graduation rates for men's Division I basketball, baseball and football players are continuing to rise - slightly. The NCAA released figures tracking the graduation rates at 318 Division I colleges and universities for athletes who enrolled from 1997-2000. The overall rate for men and women in all sports remained at 77 percent, but the individual rates for the three poorest-performing groups of athletes - men's basketball, football and baseball - showed slight improvements for the second straight year.
The latest data showed graduation rates of 71.5 percent for men and 87.3 percent for women. Only two schools had 100 percent graduation rates in football: Boston University (Bowl Subdivision) and Robert Morris (Championship Subdivision). The worst was Florida A&M at 22 percent.
COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: Eighth-ranked Hillsborough Community College (16-1, 6-1) swept South Florida CC 31-29, 30-25, 30-23 on Tuesday to clinch a postseason berth.
Vick To Learn Trial Date
SUSSEX, Va. - A Surry County judge will set a trial date for suspended Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick and three co-defendants on state dogfighting charges on Nov. 27.
Meanwhile, the Vick family member whose drug arrest led to the discovery of Vick's dogfighting compound pleaded guilty to possessing marijuana with intent to sell. Davon Boddie, Vick's cousin, was given a five-year suspended sentence.

America's Cup organizers are considering postponing the 2009 event because of continuing legal wrangling over proposed rules changes.
