LAKELAND - The man suspected of fatally shooting 24-year-old Luther Tyrone Golliday in a gas station parking lot in September was arrested tonight by police.
Edgar Elijah Brown, 23, was tracked by Lakeland detectives to Highlands County, where he was arrested on a charge of capital murder, said Sgt. Terri Smith, spokeswoman for the Lakeland Police Department.
Brown and Golliday were involved in a verbal confrontation on the night of Sept. 26, Smith said. The argument started when Golliday's car door bumped Brown in the parking lot of Club Kathleen, 704 N. Lincoln Blvd., in Lakeland.
Brown later located Golliday at a BP service station at 835 W. Memorial Blvd. and shot him three times as he was sitting on the back of a parked vehicle, Smith said. Golliday was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center where he died from his injuries, police said.
Brown's booking information was not available late tonight.
