ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Travis Henry returned to the field Friday for practice amid uncertainty about his future with the Denver Broncos.
Henry, the NFL's leading rusher, is trying to prevent the league from suspending him concerning the results of a drug test, according to federal court records. He said he couldn't comment on the case on the advice of his attorney.
Henry plans to play Sunday against San Diego. Broncos coach Mike Shanahan thought that was a strong possibility, as long as Henry's injured right ankle and knee are up to it.
Henry, listed as questionable on the injury report, was back at practice Friday for the first time since injuring his leg against Indianapolis last week.
'If there is no setback with where he's at, he will play,' Shanahan said.
However, Broncos receiver Javon Walker will not play against the Chargers, Shanahan said. Walker still has swelling in his surgically repaired right knee. He thought he'd be ready for the Pittsburgh game Oct. 21. The Broncos have a bye week after San Diego.
BILLS: Receiver Peerless Price's season is likely done after he was scheduled to have surgery to repair a disc in his neck. Coach Dick Jauron said the team will place Price on injured reserve, making him the ninth Bills player - and fourth starter - on the season-ending list five weeks into the campaign.
CHARGERS: Rookie wide receiver Craig Davis could miss Sunday's game at Denver with a sprained ankle.
GIANTS: Defensive end Osi Umenyiora missed his second straight practice Friday because of a sore left knee. Umenyiora, the NFC's defensive player of the week after he sacked Philadelphia's Donovan McNabb a team-record six times and forced two fumbles last week, has said he still expects to play against the Jets on Sunday.
JETS: Starting safety Erik Coleman is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Giants because of a concussion.
PANTHERS: Quarterback Jake Delhomme did not practice again Friday and is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against New Orleans.
REDSKINS: Receiver Santana Moss didn't practice Friday and is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against Detroit. Moss hurt his groin in the final quarter of a loss to the Giants two weeks ago and has not practiced since. The Redskins were off last week.
STEELERS: Receiver Hines Ward will miss his second game in a row Sunday because of a right knee injury.
