TAMPA - A Hillsborough County supervisory park ranger was arrested Friday on a charge he possessed child pornography, according to the FBI.
Thomas Goins, 64, was arrested at his home in Lithia after an investigation by the FBI's Innocent Images Task Force. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in federal prison.
Goins is the manager of Lithia Springs, a 160-acre park at 3932 Lithia Springs Road, which is known for its 72-degree spring, campgrounds and picnic areas. Goins has been suspended without pay pending the outcome of the investigation, county parks and recreation spokesman John Brill said.
Goins has been a county park ranger since May 7, 1982, Brill said. He is being held at Orient Road Jail with no bail set.
