Sanchious, Mulberry Run Past Lake Placid, 58-0

LAKE PLACID - Junior tailback Jamar Sanchious scored Friday night on his only two touches of the game - both from more than 50 yards out - as Mulberry ran all over Lake Placid, 58-0, in a Class 2A-District 5 meeting.

Mulberry senior Deon Smith added two more scores and the Panther defense forced six Green Dragon turnovers.

The Green Dragons (2-4) managed only two first downs, while the Panthers found the end zone on each of their first five possessions.

After Sanchious finished his night with TD runs of 55 and 59 to open the first quarter, the Panthers (3-2) recovered a fumble deep in Green Dragon territory and found the end zone when Smith scored from 4 yards out to put Mulberry ahead 19-0.

Less than a minute later and after another Lake Placid fumble again put the Panthers within striking distance, sophomore Lorenzo Rome scored on a 2-yard run to put Mulberry ahead 25-0 after a quarter.

Mulberry scored three more times before the half, one on a 62-yard run by Smith, then again on a 90-yard interception return by junior Steven Willis, and on a 22-yard pass.

HARDEE 31, SEBRING 19: Hardee (5-1, 1-1) succeeded in getting back into the Class 3A-District 12 race with a victory against Sebring (3-3, 0-1).

Senior tailback Jimmy Cimeus rushed for 205 yards on 19 carries and scored three TDs, and senior quarterback Jordan Grimsley rushed for 95 yards and a TD.

BRADEN RIVER 17, AVON PARK 0: In a Class 3A-District 12 matchup, Avon Park (1-4, 1-1) had four turnovers, including a pair of fumbles on the goal line, and failed to score for the fourth time in five games, losing to Braden River (3-3, 1-1).

QB Willie McNeal led the Pirates in rushing with 90 yards on five carries, including a 75-yard TD run, while RB Tim Grider added 75 yards.
