TALLAHASSEE - K Gary Cismesia thought everything was fine when the ball left his foot on his first two field-goal attempts, and he was shocked when he looked up and both went wide left.

The two attempts came in the second quarter, when the Seminoles were down 10-7.

'I have to look at the film, but I thought I hit them both perfect,' said Cismesia, a senior. 'As soon as I kicked it I thought they were both in, then I looked up and they were wide left. It was something I was missing left. I just have to figure it out.'

He was especially stunned at the 26-yard attempt that sailed just outside the left goal post.

'I missed the first one 51-yard attempt, and that was iffy but I should still make it, but that second one 26-yard attempt, that really just ticked me off,' Cismesia said. 'It was like an extra point. I felt like at that point, too, I let the team down and gave N.C. State a little momentum. We should have gotten six points out of that, but we got nothing out of both of them, and that was a time when we still needed points, so I felt like I let the team down a lot.'

Cismesia fixed whatever the problem was on the drive after the 26-yard miss, hitting a 39-yard field goal three minutes before the half to tie the game at 10. He also made one from 28 yards in the fourth quarter and was 3-for-3 on extra points.

LIGHTNING DELAY: The game was delayed 49 minutes beginning at 6:02 p.m. because of lightning in the area. There was 3:55 left in the third quarter and Florida State had a first-and-10 at its 39 when everyone was cleared off the field, even as a rainbow hung over Doak Campbell Stadium. Play resumed at 6:51 p.m., though a good portion of the crowd did not return.

INJURIES: Following the injury of LT David Overmyer (knee) in last week's win over Alabama, sophomore Daron Rose (Jefferson High) played in his place. ... N.C. State RB Andre Brown (broken left foot) left in the third quarter and did not return. Brown had nine rushes for 16 yards and three receptions for 30 yards. ... N.C. State also was without former Countryside High QB Harrison Beck (separated shoulder). He was injured last week in the third quarter of N.C. State's loss to Louisville. Beck had been the starting quarterback for the Wolfpack in the previous four games. ... ACC official Ernest Benson was taken to a hospital after collapsing on the field in the second quarter. He was treated for dehydration and returned to the stadium in the third quarter.

MILESTONES, ETC.: CB Patrick Robinson's interception late in the first half was his first as a Seminole. ... QB Xavier Lee's touchdown 2:11 into the game was the fastest Florida State touchdown since Tony Carter returned an interception for a touchdown against Virginia on Nov. 6, 2006, just 1:14 into the game. That touchdown marked the first time Florida State has scored on an opening drive since Sept. 23, 2006, against Rice. ... FB Seddrick Holloway's 40-yard run in the first quarter was the longest for an FSU fullback since Clarence 'Pooh Bear' Williams ran for a 47-yard TD against Duke on Sept. 4, 1993. It was Holloway's second career rush.
