FORT LAUDERDALE - University of South Florida sophomore DE George Selvie had one sack in the second quarter at Florida Atlantic, setting the school record for sacks in a season with 10.5.
Selvie injured his hamstring in the first half and played sparingly in the second half.
Through five games, Selvie is on pace to break the Big East record of 20 sacks in a season, set by Louisville's Elvis Dumerville in 2005.
RECORD RUNNERS: USF junior Ben Williams rushed for 186 yards, the sixth-best effort in school history, while QB Matt Grothe added a career-high 120 yards rushing.
'Ben did a good job,' Coach Jim Leavitt said. 'He kept slugging away.'
Williams and Grothe became the third set of USF teammates to rush for more than 100 yards in a game. Grothe's total was the second-most by a USF quarterback, trailing only Marquel Blackwell (132 yards at Baylor in 2000).
FORD SITS OUT: USF freshman RB Mike Ford was benched Saturday for missing classes this week, Leavitt said.
'Missed some classes here and there,' Leavitt said. 'Some things like that. He'll be back in there ready to go next week. We need Mike on the field. We need to have him do all the right things. He needs to be part of our offense.'
UCF TICKETS: Student tickets for Saturday's game against Central Florida will be distributed today at the Sun Dome from 6-10 p.m. Lines can begin forming at 2 p.m. If demand and logistics warrant, they might be distributed early, USF senior associate AD Bill McGillis said.
No individual tickets remain for UCF, but mini-packs are available for the final three home games (UCF, Cincinnati and Louisville). Call 1-800-GoBulls.
OLD DAYS: While Saturday's game brought back memories of playing in smaller venues for several USF coaches, it had been a while since defensive line coach Dan McCarney had played in a stadium this small.
When McCarney was an assistant at Wisconsin in 1993, the Badgers played at SMU's Ownby Stadium (capacity 23,000), winning 24-16.
'You have to handle the distractions,' said McCarney, the coach at Iowa State for 12 seasons before joining the USF staff this season. 'The thing is, the stadium's smaller, but the win counts just as much.'
INJURY UPDATE: RB Jamar Taylor, who left the game in the first half with a left ankle sprain and did not return, should be able to play Saturday against UCF, Leavitt said. LG Ryan Schmidt said he rolled his ankle and his status for UCF is unknown.

USF won its seventh consecutive game dating to last season, the second-longest streak in school history. ... USF improved to 6-1 against Florida opponents, the only loss at Miami in 2005. ... FAU drew a school-record crowd of 21,106 at Lockhart Stadium and used an auxiliary press box outside to handle the overflow media. ...
