Halloween Costume Contest At Park Is For The Dogs

TOWN 'N COUNTRY - Scary or cute, dogs are wanted for some Halloween costume fun.

The 5th Annual Halloween Dog Costume Contest is being held at the West Park Dog Park, 6402 Occident Road, on Oct. 27. The competition begins at 10 a.m. for small dogs and 10:30 a.m. for big dogs.

The dogs compete for the title of cutest, funniest, most original and scariest costume, and winners take home a ribbon. All participants walk away with a bag full of treats, said John Brill, spokesman for Hillsborough County's Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department.

In past years, dog owners have dressed their furry friends as Superman, Darth Vader, a witch, a bodybuilder and a scuba diver.
