Tampa - Tampa - University of South Florida WR Amarri Jackson put a scare into the coaching staff when he went down with a right knee injury early in Monday's practice. Jackson, who leads the team with 19 catches for 203 yards and two TDs, had an ice bag immediately taped to his knee.
USF wide receivers coach Mike Canales doesn't think the injury is serious.
"He'll be all right," Canales said. "He just tweaked it while running a route."
Meanwhile, DE George Selvie (arm), RB Jamar Taylor (ankle) and LG Ryan Schmidt (ankle), who suffered injuries against Florida Atlantic, practiced Monday and will play Saturday when the No.5 Bulls host Central Florida, Coach Jim Leavitt said.
SAY WHAT? RB Ben Williams has every right to feel slighted by the Big East Conference. After rushing for a career-high 186 yards and a school-record four TDs in a 35-23 win at FAU, Williams was relegated to the conference's weekly honor roll.
The Big East Offensive Player of the Week was West Virginia QB Pat White, who played only 2 1/2 quarters and threw for 148 yards with one TD, while rushing for 89 yards and scoring a touchdown against Syracuse.
