Bank Refuses Would-Be Robber's Demand, Deputies Say

BRANDON - Sheriff's deputies are searching for a would-be bank robber who escaped empty-handed this morning.

The man entered Pilot Bank at 668 Oakfield Drive about 11:30 a.m., the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said. He displayed a note demanding money, but after the bank refused to give him any, he left.

The sheriff's office described the man as white and in his late 40s, wearing a construction hat, dark gray T-shirt and jeans.
