Coral Gables - Coral Gables - Randy Shannon had a very, very strong message to his team after Tuesday's practice.
"It is not acceptable to lose at the University of Miami," he shouted to his team as they were on one knee around their head coach, who was standing and pointing adamantly at his team.
Shannon also pointed out Derrick Morse for being a real Hurricane.
"Here's a real Hurricane, D-Mo," he told his team as Morse practiced despite being sick.
"[Morse is a real Hurricane] because he'll lay it on the line for everybody," Shannon said. "No matter what it is. If he's hurt, broken leg, broken arm, a concussion, he is going to line up and play. And that's Hurricane football. He'll come out first day, second play, first rep, warm-up, stretch, whatever it is, D-Mo is going to go full speed."
Players ran more in today's practice than they had all season long. They ran wind sprints because players were not practicing the right way.
"We are going to try every day to get the guys to be motivated to start fast at the beginning of practice today," Shannon said. "Whatever it takes to do, we are going to get it done."
NEW STARTERS: TE Chris Zellner, DT Josh Holmes, and LB Darryl Sharpton are now slated to start this weekend against Georgia Tech. CB Glenn Sharpe has now joined the three-man rotation with DeMarcus Van Dyke and Bruce Johnson with Carlos Armour on the outside looking in.
