Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. is recalling of its "Prestige Chocolate Ice Cream" over concerns that the product may have been mislabeled.
Some of the 1.75 quart cartons were shipped with incorrect lids that failed to identify the presence of almonds in the ice cream. No illnesses have been tied to the mistake, but people with allergies to almonds could have a severe reaction.
The product comes in an oval, 1.75 quart paper carton marked with plant code 12-356 and an expiration date of June 25, 2008.
Jacksonville-based Winn-Dixie is recalling the product as a precaution. It affects Winn-Dixie and Save-Rite stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Customers with any concerns are encouraged to return the product.
