A clerk thought he was helping two customers when one pulled a gun and ordered him to the ground, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.
The clerk at Stone & Mulch Place, 870 E. Alfred Road in Lake Alfred, said the two men came in about 11 a.m. Tuesday and asked him to help them outside.
The clerk did, then re-entered the store, according to a news release. One of the men followed him, pointed a semiautomatic handgun at him, ordered him to the ground and tied his hands behind his back, deputies said.
They then robbed him and took cash from the store register and safe.
The men fled in a blue minivan, the clerk said.
Anyone with information should call the Lake Alfred Police Department at (863) 291-5200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-8477. Callers can remain anonymous.
