TAMPA - A team effort throughout the day today will provide needy babies with a warm, safe place to sleep.
Project Moses, where volunteers create liners and mattress covers for bassinets made from large plastic containers, will run from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. at Keep Me in Stitches.
The makeshift bedding provides a comfortable place for babies from about 2 to 4 months old. It's designed to reduce the incidence of co-sleeping of babies and parents, which can result in infant death.
People are needed to help create the bedding. Those who don't know how to sew can help by cutting, ironing and assembling the pieces.
Lunch and snacks will be provided.
The project is a joint effort of Tampa General Hospital and the store, 4237 W. Kennedy Blvd. For information, call (813) 282-1526.
