Darnell Jenkins is not happy with some of his teammates.
Jenkins, a fifth-year senior who leads the team with 18 receptions and 360 yards, was not afraid to speak his mind in the wake of the Hurricanes' 33-27 loss to North Carolina and falling to 4-2 on the season.
"A lot of players are dedicated, but then again, it's some of the main players that should be dedicated, but is not," Jenkins said. "I think some people are probably playing for the next level or some people probably playing for next season because we lost already."
The loss was the Canes' sixth of their last seven road games and Miami is 12-10 in its last 22 games since the end of the 2005 season.
"I think some people just accept losing," Jenkins said.
The Canes have posted wins against Marshall, FIU, and Duke by an average margin of 26-9 despite the three teams having a combined record of 1-16. They suffered a 51-13 loss to Oklahoma and defeated Texas A&M, 34-17.
"When [the coaches] try to make corrections, some people just let it go in one ear and out the other," Jenkins said. "We are looking to find those weak links and we trying to remove them off our team or put them on scout team or something, get away from us."
McCARTHY STATUS: LB Colin McCarthy suffered a mild concussion against North Carolina and has not practiced this week. Coach Randy Shannon said he did not know McCarthy's status for this weekend against Georgia Tech. McCarthy is third on the team in tackles with 34.
