Jordan Schilit is the No. 2 runner for Jesuit, behind Connor Revord.
What do you like best about running cross country?
Succeeding in races, with the whole team atmosphere, and trying to win a state championship. You only have one chance to do that in your life.
How is your season going under first-year coach Greg Maurin?
He's really organized, and he knows what he's doing. He was our assistant coach, but he's stepped up to take the head coaching position and he's doing a great job.
Has it been a great experience so far this year, running with Connor and your other teammates?
It's been phenomenal. Connor has really helped me during my workouts, and everyone in the pack is out there to help each other improve.
Is there a certain race that you were running and you thought, 'I really like this, I can be good at this.'
Well when I was 8, my mom was running a 5k, and I decided to enter it. I was wearing flip-flops.
So you ran your first race in flip-flops?
Well, I didn't run the whole race, just for a little bit with my mom. But a couple of weeks later I ran a road race at Al Lopez and I decided that this is a sport that I could have success in.
